What is Clinq Zero?
A non-alcoholic sparkling wine made from California Pinot Grigio. The alcohol is filtered out at room temperature, so the wine is never heated and nothing is added back. Two ingredients on the label: dealcoholized wine and carbon dioxide. 10 calories and 0g sugar per 5 oz glass. Under 0.5% alcohol by volume. 750ml bottle, made in the USA.
Is it sweet?
No. It’s bone dry, with no sugar added back at any point. Most non-alcoholic wine is sweet because heat strips the flavor out and sugar goes in to replace it. Ours is taken out at room temperature, so there was never anything to cover up.
What does it taste like?
Peach and grapefruit on the nose, then the crisp, tart snap of green apple and a long, clean finish. That tartness is the wine’s own natural acidity, and it’s what makes it mouthwatering.
How should I serve it?
As cold as you can, in a flute or a coupe. The colder the wine, the longer the bubbles hold.
Is Clinq Zero real wine?
Yes. It starts as a California Pinot Grigio, grown and fermented as wine. The alcohol comes out at the end. It isn’t grape juice, and it isn’t a flavored drink built to resemble wine.
Where is it made?
The wine is from California. It’s dealcoholized and bottled in Virginia. Made in the USA, not imported.
Is it non-alcoholic or zero alcohol?
It’s non-alcoholic, under 0.5% alcohol by volume, the same range as kombucha and many orange juices. The accurate term on the bottle is dealcoholized sparkling wine.
Sugar, calories and the label
How much sugar and how many calories?
0g sugar and 10 calories per 5 oz glass, 50 calories for the whole bottle. A glass of prosecco is usually 85 to 100 calories, so this is about a tenth.
What’s on the label?
Two things: dealcoholized wine and carbon dioxide. That’s the whole list. Turn over any other bottle in the aisle and count.
Why was every other non-alcoholic wine I tried so sweet?
Heat. When the alcohol is boiled off, the flavor goes with it, and sugar or grape juice goes back in to fill the gap. Flip the bottle and count the ingredients. Ours has two.
How is the alcohol removed?
Cold. Most non-alcoholic wine is warmed to pull the alcohol out, which cooks off the aroma, so the maker adds sugar and juice to replace what was lost. Ours is filtered at room temperature. The wine never sees heat, so there’s nothing to cover up and nothing to add back.
What does dealcoholized mean?
It means the wine was made as wine first, then had the alcohol taken out at the end. That’s the opposite of building a drink from juice and flavoring to taste like wine.

What do I drink it with?
On its own, cold, is the easiest answer. With food it’s at its best where there’s fat or salt: oysters, anything fried, brie, parmesan, prosciutto. And because it starts at zero sugar it’s a better mocktail base than a sweet one, so the orange in a mimosa tastes like orange instead of syrup.

Does non-alcoholic wine count during a dry month?
That’s yours to decide, and we won’t put words in your mouth. Clinq Zero is under 0.5% alcohol, the same range as kombucha. Plenty of people drink it through a dry month because it keeps the glass and the occasion without the alcohol.
